NextOats Foods Group
Tatleaux Management Group (“Tatleaux”) is pleased to announce that after 17 successful years building and nurturing the Wild Oats Café restaurant concept, Ronald Cortes has joined Tatleaux to spearhead its NextOats Foods Group effort. Ron guided Wild Oats Café from the conceptual and start-up stage to the established, consistently excellent stage. Under Ron’s leadership, the Wild Oats concept has weathered difficult economic times, demographic shifts and heightened competition over almost two decades. And, the concept has thrived at the same location throughout this period.
In some years, Wild Oats Café’s sales per square foot were stellar by industry standards. Tatleaux partner David Pearce states: “Ron’s accomplishments with Wild Oats Café are remarkable: very few food and consumer products concepts survive their first year, let alone succeed for 17 years, and at one, admittedly limited, location!” Joseph Cortes, President and CEO of Tatleaux and its investment vehicle, De Pera Growth Bridge Fund (“De Pera”) adds “We look forward to Ron’s leadership of Tatleaux’s healthy, organic and environmentally beneficial food initiative, NextOats Foods.”
Ron Cortes previews the NextOats initiative by stating: “With Tatleaux’s backing, the Wild Oats Café formula will not only continue at revamped, larger restaurants in Downtown Los Angeles and other markets, but also expand its food product offerings of organic and farm-to-table cuisine and embark on the packaging and retail distribution of the Café’s most popular recipes and beverages. In addition, NextOats will serve as a distribution channel for other Tatleaux healthy, organic and environmentally beneficial food and consumer products.”
For the immediate term, Ron urged Tatleaux to launch NextOats in downtown Los Angeles based on the key findings released in a recent Demographic Study: impressive median household income and median age of 32.5, increasingly well-educated resident population -- 92% of which dines out frequently, and downtown Los Angeles’ 10 million annual non-local visitors. Ron points out that, moreover, “Wild Oats Café has long been a favorite of the entertainment industry. Now that the L.A. Film Festival has moved downtown, joining several concerts and marquis events broadcast from L.A. Live and the Staples Center, our move feels right. Recent approval for the downtown construction of a new NFL stadium doesn’t hurt either.”
